Angelique Scharine So sorry September 17, 2013

I'm so sorry to hear this. And yet, I suppose that a peaceful exit is the best one could hope for. I count myself fortunate to have had him as a professor and on my dissertation committee. I know that he will be greatly missed.

Katy Blessum Deeply Sorry September 17, 2013

Words cannot express how deeply sorry I am for the loss of Dr. Bacon.  He was such an exceptional person and teacher.  I have faithfully followed his Carin Bridge page as he wrote about his fight with cancer.  I am so sad to hear about his passing.  He is now pain free and peaceful.  You will always have an angel watching over your family. My thoughts and prayers are with the Bacon family at this time.  Rest in peace, Dr. B.

deepest sympathies,

Katy Blessum

The Kindles Godspeed September 17, 2013

Again, just because there's been an absence of words, it doesn't mean we've not been thinking of Sid and family and praying for Sid and his amazing family. Speaking of words, I can't put in words how Sid's words (and even those in the guestbook) have helped and will help in situations that have come up in my life. We all wished there was more we could have done. Even as he weakened, he showed amazing strength and courage. Godspeed.

Sethuraman Panchanathan Peace & Solace September 17, 2013

Dear Cathy,
I am deeply saddened by this news. Sid was an outstanding colleague, a dear friend and advisor. He was first of all an excellent and caring human being, and outstanding researcher, and exemplar leader, a trusted friend and colleague and a perfect gentleman.

We will all miss him dearly. Coincidentally we had our OKED management team meeting this morning and we all fondly recalled his contributions, his time with us and his friendship. The entire team teared up talking about such a wonderful soul and that we were fortunate to have had interactions with.

My condolences to you, Laura, Dan and the family. I have no doubts that such a wonderful soul is resting in peace. His spirit will continue to be vibrant through all of you and his wonderful students.

I pray for peace and solace for your and the family.

If we can do anything at all to be of help, please let us know.

Take care.

Regards
Panch

Annie Clark Wishing you continued love September 17, 2013

Cathy, Laura, Dan and Extended Family,
My thoughts have been with your family for some time now. I am sorry to hear of Sid's recent passing. As a high school classmate of Sid's I remember he wrote well. His journal reflects the same. That big smile of his, well it was the same back then too!

What a kind and generous man to have guided so many students in his lifetime and to share his last journey with many of us through Caring Bridge.
His journal and photos reflected his love of family. I will giggle through the end of my time as I think of Sid, weeding his garden!
Wishing you continued love of family and friends through this next journey in life.
