I am so sorry to hear of Sid's passing. I was a graduate student of his and worked in his lab. He was such a kind and brilliant man. My thoughts are with your family at this difficult time.

Dear Cathy and family,
You and Sid are in our thoughts and prayers. I am at a loss for words. How can a few words of condolence convey the depth of emotion associated with the loss of such a great man? The Sid I know (and I didn't know him well) was full of compassion and grace. This was never more evident than in the pages of his blog. The sheer number of lives he has touched is a testament to what a wonderful man he was. I pray that your many happy memories sustain you during this sad, sad occasion.

I am so glad I had the opportunity to know Dr. Bacon and be mentored by him. He changed my path back in 1998, and I will forever be grateful for this. While I have never had the opportunity to meet Sid's family, you are all in my thoughts. Thank you for sharing your dad/husband with so many people :-)

Cathy, Dan, Liz and family,
My heart is breaking at the news of Sid's death and yet I am reassured that Sid is safe and happy. Sid was a very special person and he touched so many lives throughout the years. I am so happy that he found the love of his life, married and raised two wonderful children. I feel so lucky to have known him in high school, but it was through his fight with cancer that I grew to know just how caring, giving and courageous he truly was. His spirit lives on in his family, his students, colleagues and his friends. May God strengthen your faith, heal your sorrow, and help you to live each day "in the moment" like Sid so often wrote about in his blog. No more pain will greet Sid and he will rest in the loving arms of his Savior. Goodbye, friend.

My prayers are with all of you during this difficult time. Sid was so strong during this battle and was so kind to share it with all that knew him. He was the leader and we were the followers! He gave us all the message to live each day to the fullest! He made us better people as we read his postings. Cathy, Laura and Dan, you gave continuously to make this battle easier and more meaningful and with so much love. My love to you all.

Dear Cathy, Laura, and Dan,
We were so sorry to hear the news. Hugs and Prayers to all of you.
We first met the Bacon family when the kids were young and we all lived on Rock Wren Rd. We had so many fun times while watching our kids grow up. You are an amazing family and Sid was an amazing Father/Husband/Friend. He will surely be missed.

Sid's journal was an inspiration. I'm sad to hear the news and glad to have shared some of my life with Sid at the University of Kansas - Phi Gamma Delta house.
