A Pretty Terrific Tuesday ...

Written April 30, 2013 10:57pm

Today I went on a walk with Cathy … that always makes things great.  I had a bagel before our walk and oatmeal afterwards.  I am feeling pretty tired today, presumably because I didn’t sleep well last night.  My stomach and back pain tended to keep me up off and on throughout the night. But thank goodness for drugs. I took oxycodone throughout the night as well as ativan, which tends to make me sleepy.

My blood work game back and showed that I am low in magnesium, so they want me to come in today for an infusion; we’ll do that at 1:00.  It will take two hours.  I also will get my usual dose of fluids, the usual does always makes me feel better.

Tomorrow morning I am scheduled for a biopsy of my liver.  They want to do a molecular profiling of the tumor to determine what cancer drug might be most effective.

It is pretty exciting to be doing this.  If they find a match, then we should be able to selectively target the cancer cells.  This is real cutting-edge research … very exciting!

In the meantime, we are trying to make an appointment to see if there is something we can do to address this.

As always, thanks for all you do for Cathy and me.  We couldn’t do this without it. We are very grateful and we know that we are not fighting alone.

Go Team Bacon! We’ll fight this setback with the same tenacity with which we have fought other set backs. We won’t let this setback set us back in any substantial way.
